Toronto Raptors - Motion Design

In this project I wanted to capture the look and feel of the Toronto Raptors through motion design. Though I was not the most familiar with basketball or sports in general, I believed this would a great challenge to test my skills.

This project was made in Adobe After Effects creating Motion Graphic Templates (MOGRTs) in order to simplify the video editing process I began by creating motion designs to be edited within the brand guidelines through Premier Pro to make a demo reel seen here.

This project taught the value of creating a consistent world and design to add to the viewing experience, not hinder it.

I began this task by asking those around me what navigation they needed to figure out in Toronto. Many responded with Union Station navigation as the station was going through many construction stints throughout the years.

I decided to make a navigation app that works similarly to google, however teaches you and guides you through the packed halls. Anywhere you need to get to in Union Station will be shown on this app.

Many praised the “Follow the Arrow” feature as in allowed people completely unfamiliar with the station to quickly and efficiently travel through the station without getting lost.

Lume Coffee Brand Book

This brand book was designed around our company LUME. We decided we wanted to target a company in downtown Toronto for busy 9 - 5 workers who needed a coffee before work or during their lunch break.

We decided that many coffee shops didn’t seem to offer the appeal and design we were looking for. We wanted a fun colourful business that still abided by the warm feeling of coffee itself.

Our brand book helps those who want to make new artwork or information towards the brand while not breaking brand rules, such as colour guides, font guides and theming guides.

Lyric Video (Motion Design)

This motion lyric video is designed around the concept of the music, showing the connection of life and design into an enjoyable motion design concept. The sound is “That’s The Way It Is” from Red Dead Redemption 2, relating to the connection of the older lifestyle of the game into my own lyric video for the song.

This project was a challenge on learning how After Effects works. I used many tools such as tweening keyframes, puppet pin tool as well as learning to use many different types of transitions and even some custom ones.

This is great for designing something that people want to watch and get enjoyment from watching.

This magazine spread is a piece of the British girl group, Little Mix. This spread is designed tastefully around the 4 women and their own brand of bright colours and flowy fonts.

This spread mostly contains information on the band and their history together as a 4 piece. Since then the 4 of them have parted ways to create new solo music as they have a hiatus from the group. Since then they have been praised for their artistry as well as won awards at the BRITs for best group in 2021.

Their legacy inspires brands and groups alike such as Flo, Katseye and Blackswan. Their impact in music has inspired many new talents.

Naturcycle Case Study

The Naturcycle case study was designed around designing a brand from some guidelines around a skin care brand. This brand is targeting young consumers that are influenced by social media personalities. As Gen Z gets older, their buying power increases.

This case study was important on analyzing the brand and design language merging into the business profile in a clean and concise way. This UX project taught the skills of how people use apps and websites in a way that makes sense to everyone, not just those with the skills.

3D Rendering Work

This 3D animation project is a demonstration of displaying a product in a 3D, controlled environment for showcasing purposes. This is done with substance stager which allows for the design of 3D models and making a panning camera to show off the designs.

This showcase also displays how you can create a convincing background that fits the foreground into a believable scene for the customer to understand the scale of the products. With the context available, it is possible to determine whether the product advertised is worth it or not.

Go Transit Pitch Deck

In this project I had the task of bringing more people to ride the GO Transit system in the Greater Toronto Area. This was a business project which included ways to catch people and who they are.

By learning where people need to go, who they are, to what destination and by what method of transit they prefer are essential for making a brand of transit.

As well as learning about the business aspect of design allows for proper and efficient design that is functional and practical

Alessi Design Brief

This creative brief was based on the existing company Alessi. This brand brief was designed around the business aspect to design. Deciding who and why they needed to seek out a product and how you will deliver to them.

The Alessi brand needs a creative and minimal design for the products they make. With the simplicity of the products, including the functionality, the logos and general theme must match what is already set.

Using this artistic design for products frames the designs front and centre allows for the logo and design systems to compliment the overall brand. This allows people who may have not been interested to take a second look.
